The black-and-yellow Fiat Premier Padmini has long been the iconic taxicab of Mumbai.
But of late, many new taxi models have started to show up, smartly turned out in the mandatory black-and-yellow.
Among all the new models, though, it appears the Omni has one special advantage...
Superior leg room, made possible by sliding doors!!
Advantage, Omni! :) :) Move over, Fiat!

Nice and funny post. Even I was pretty astounded by the cool cabs (blus colored A/C hyundai santros and wagon R) and the Omni cabs ..
Not sure, if there is a post on this topic .. but when I visited Mumbai - I went to the Paris Bakery near Marine Lines station in Dhobitalao. Awesome place, we bought back along with us to Bangalore packets of cheeslings, garlic sticks, cashew macroons and shrewsburry biscuits. Out of the world in taste and quality and the best customer service with astounding hospitality in the whole of India I can say. Please take time and visit this place.
Best thing about the OMNI is the luggage space at the back which is not there in any of the newer cabs except for the very few newer EECO vehicles which are even larger than the OMNI's!!! Even the larger taxis like Mahindra's Renault or Maruti's Esteem don't have that much boot space for luggage especially when you need to get to or from the airport or railway stations.
Great blog! I would like to say that black and yellow taxi mumbai is so popular for its mix colour. Daily a lot of people travel by black and yellow taxi in mumbai as it fares is less than cool cabs one. I really thank you for sharing this post. http://www.apnacabs.com/about_us.php.
