Saree as Pants

Some things are just plain cool.

Is this a special type of saree?

Nope, but its a different (and traditional??) way of wearing a saree. The regular 6 yard saree is worn like a cylinder (geometry, not LPG) wrapped around the waist and then covering the torso with the free end. The "cylinder" does not lend to free movement. Hence this way of wearing a saree, which is favored by many women in the southern, and western parts of the country.
